  • A topic of much importance, what is JEE main 2014 exam eligibility criteria, the changed exam pattern in 2012 put many students under dilemma. MHRD in 2012 along with IIT officials took decision to integrate JEE main with class 12th score.

According to newly defined formula by MHRD, the 40 percent class 12th marks are taken in consideration with 60 percent JEE Main 2014 exam. the final merit and result will be decided on the basis of class 12th score as well as on JEE main 2014 entrance exam.

Before the explanation of the eligibility criteria, I request students to kindly visit the JEE main 2014 syllabus link. To check JEE Mains 2014 syllabus, visit this link.

Syllabus will give you brief idea, what topics to study and how to study.  The new rules and regulations added confusion among the students. The complete JEE main 2014 exam eligibility criteria is as follows-

The candidate must fulfill the required age criteria. There are certain conditions set by the JEE board. The students must satisfy all these conditions in order to get admission in top JEE main colleges.

Started with the age limitation such that date of birth is important while checking eligibility criteria, last year it was October 1988, all those whose date of birth after the 1988 are eligible. So, for 2014 I expect all those whose date of birth after 1989 are eligible for JEE main 2014 exam.

The age relaxation is given to reserved category candidates like schedule caste/ schedule tribe and PWD candidates. The 5 year upper age relaxation is given to candidates with reserved category.

All those who passed class 12th either in 2012, 2013 or appearing in 2014 are eligible for JEE main 2013 entrance exam,  For 2011 batch students, I suggest them to wait for the official JEE Main 2014 notification.

The candidates must pass the 5 subjects and minimum aggregate marks should be 50 percent. For B.Arch students, Including Mathematics, they must have aggregate of 50 percent marks.

The totals of three attempts are provided to each student. There are some colleges and universities conduct their own entrance exams. In order to know their eligibility criteria, you have to visit and check their official website.

I hope that above information will help students to know JEE Main 2014 exam eligibility criteria. If I missed something then you can recall me by leaving your comment below.

    T.S.Bhavana,

It has nothing to do with class 11 marks. It is required where class 11th and class 12th marks are considered as semester exam.

    Hello all,

Right now, I have information that JEE main and advanced 2014 eligibility criteria remain same.

If you are not happy with 2013 class 12th marks then you can appear in improvement exam. If you fulfill the top 20 percent criteria for JEE advanced in 2014 then you are eligible.

The 2013 class 12th score is valid for 2014 evaluation. If you are sure that you are among Top 20 percent then no need to write the class 12th exam again.

Note: I have written posts on Top best rated books for mathematics, physics and chemistry. If you go through these books then chances are higher that you will get the admission to JEE advanced 2014. The links are provided to relevant books. Go with it.

    Good luck for the career!

    Hello

I gave my class 12 exams in March 2013 but was not at all well due to migrain but still managed to score 88.6%....so my query is that I want to give jee exams in 2014 as i was not able to give this year due to the same reason mentioned above....so as this year there was a weightage of 40% of board marks and if it remains the same for the next year so will my % be considered 88.6 or 83.6? as some students of my school were saying that if we drop this year then our % will be considered by subtracting 5% from our aggregate..is this rumour true?...and one more thing I am sure that I can get 95+% in the improvement exams so should I give the improvements if the above rumour is a false one or should I concentrate on my IIT coaching only??

    Hi,

But the my board results came out and I scored 82.2% while the cut-off for ISC was 83.8%. I appeared for JEE Advanced and scored 106 marks. I wont qualify this year but I know I am capable of making it to the IITs next year. But the issue is with my board marks. I cant understand that what is the difference between a guy who score 84% and a guy who scored 82%. I dont think there is any difference of merit. I am really deppressed with myself.I want to drop this year to prepare for IIT next year. But I don't know how am I going to manage my board marks. I am thinking of reappearing my board exams from NIOS(open board). But I dont know whether it will be accpeted next year as this year I applied using my ISC board and next I will be applying using NIOS. Please help me. I am unable to understand what I should do. I dont want to study anywhere except IIT and I dont come from a family of means. So I cant study at private institutions like BITS. This is Akanksha Shidore. I would like to draw your kind attention at my query about the age eligibility criteria to appear for iit jee (mains & advance) 2014.
I have passed my 12th in 2010 year and have got less marks(64.5%). Due to some personal problems i didint repeat the HSC boards exam. But this year i am going to repeat the HSC exam under Class Improvement Scheme(CIS) and i want to appear for iit jee 2014.
Please kindly note that I'll be going to attempt iitjee for the first time. My birth date is 3rd sep 1992. So i wanted to know that will i be eligible to appear for iitjee2014 if i repeat the 12 boards again the same year?
Kindly answer my query as soon as possible.
